Sensory Therapy Device Stolen From Disabled Child In Littlehampton - Image by jo-h
Severely mentally and physically disabled Khyal Heading, eight years old, was
born with a hole in his heart, damage to his brain and epilepsy – among other
things.
The people of Littlehampton
raised over £16,000 to set up a sensory room for Khyal when he was a baby and
one bit of kit he got so much out of was his Spacekraft bubble tube. The bubble tube is designed to help Khyal
develop through sensory processing and by touching different pads Khyal was
able to change the colour of the water inside.
The cost of this bubble tube alone was around £2,000!
But some cruel and heartless (oh for the lack of profanity
filter right now!) ‘opportunist’ took advantage of the house being left empty
for a few days while Khyal’s Mum moved to a new home. When she returned her old home had been
ransacked and the bubble tube, among other valuables, had been stolen.
His Mum, Nikki, said Khyal, who attends frequent respite
sessions at the Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice near Arundel, didn’t understand what had happened and that this was a blessing.
But then some heart warming news came a few days later when,
as a result of an appeal by Sussex
police, a family donated the bubble tube their own son no longer needed! Also, Littlehampton electrical firm Propelec
arrived with the charity Jamie’s Wish to re-install the equipment from the old
house into the new one.
You know, I know the media can play up the worst of society
to us all - but for every nasty idiot out there, there are ten wonderful and
good people, if not more!
Comments
Such a shame about it being stolen - but heartwarming news he has a new one.
People always rally round when there is someone in need and none more deserving than little Khyal.
